Introducing Thing 1 and Thing 2

Welp, things are going to get fairly interesting fairly fast at the Jacob house.  I am going to become a Big Big Brother Times Two come July.  That's right!  Mommy has Two Babies in her tummy!  Imagine that!  This is a-may-zing!  Because I love to read Dr. Seuss, Mommy has decided to give my future brothers or sisters or brother and sister the names Thing 1 and Thing 2.  Mommy asked what I would name them if they were a boy and a girl, and I said Manny and Ellie.  Apparently I think Mommy has two Wooly Mammoths inside of her (did you know that I am a huge Ice Age fan?  I haven't even seen the first one yet, but Ice Age 2 and 3 are great).

Ultimately, Mommy and Daddy will take two healthy babies of any sex, but I would like to spend some time analyzing the potential ramifications of the Twin Combo Possibilities:

Twin Combo Possibility #1: Girl Girl
Four Words: Armageddon of Pink Stuff.  Daddy doesn't know how he will handle two baby girls and all the crapola that goes with it.  And that's not even considering when they become teenagers.  I mean, girls.  They're always going to be really yucky, right?  (Dad says, Yes, mostly).

Twin Combo Possibility #2: Boy Girl
Ideally, this is what Mommy and Daddy prefer.  You know, a ying and yang kind of thing.  It would be nice to have a brother to play with, and a sister to make sure that the boys don't morph into neanderthals.

Twin Combo Possibility #3:  Boy Boy
I don't think the world could handle two other boys with as much energy, charisma, and cuteness as yours truly.  In fact, I asked my friend, Superfan Bill Swerski, what would be the result of this equation:  William + (Baby Boy 1 + Baby Boy 2):

"The senseless waste of pitting these two mighty forces of nature against each other, like matter vs. anti-matter, will be a tragedy, not only for the parents involved...but for our planet. All nations must band together, to ensure that such a conflageration never takes place.  And Jay Cutler should be Da Bears Quarterback for the rest of all eternity plus infinity."

Don't know why he added that last part there, but I think Pappy told Mr. Swerski to say that.

So yeah, life has been crazy the past few months.  Dad looked at my journal recently and he says, "William, you haven't written in your journal for over three months!  What have you been doing?"

Well, Dad, here's what I got:

An A-May-Zing New Bed
Since I've been (mostly) a good boy throughout the past 365ish days, Santa gave me an early Christmas present.  A New Big Boy Bed!  It is a-may-zing!  Just watch this video below.  It is the cutest darn thing ever.  I am a little biased, but I think you will agree:

Spelling My Name
I can spell my full big name now!  I had trouble with the second "I," but I've worked hard at it and I've got it.  Oh yeah, I've got it.

Sir William Jacob: Future CEO

If I am going to be good at anything in the future, I am going to be a good boss, because that's what I like to do.  All. The. Time.  I sometimes overstep my natural bossy boundaries.  Mommy and I have frequent conversations about who I am the boss of.  Sadly, the only two things that I am the boss of are Bella and Lola, my doggies.  Not Mommy.  Not Daddy.  Not Naps.  Not even my own mood swings.  Dang.  And even the dogs don't listen to me all that well.  It's a rough life, you know?

Here are some other snippets of my boss-e-ness:

-  Mommy going upstairs for bed time.  Me:  "Mommy, wait for us!  You don't go upstairs by yourself.  Some people need to get their pjs on and brush teeth and read stories."  Mommy: "Oh, are you one of those people."  Me: "Yes I am."

-  Dinner time:  "Daddy, you didn't give me very much steak."

- My new thing now if Daddy or Mommy say something to me about me being naughty:  "I don't like your attitude."

Cute Stuff
Really, the entire blog is about Cute Stuff.  I am ALL about being cute, you know?  (okay, except when I am being naughty, which RARELY happens).  To wit:

- Before nap time: "Mommy, you're my best friend.  Let's watch HGTV together and snuggle in bed."  Mommy was pretty impressed by that statement.

-  Mommy talked about Aunt Jo's dogs and called them Joe and Bowie, instead of Joey and Beau.  Here is my respond:  "Mommy, can you say it right?  It's Joey and Beau."

- Mommy and Me at the doctor's office:  The doctor checks me first, and then she looks at Mommy.  This is what I say: "Be brave, Mommy.  It won't hurt!"

- A 2 liter of coke falls out of Mommy's truck, and explodes all over the garage floor.  My reaction?  "Well, that went well."  I am even beginning to understand sarcasm.

Christmas Tree
Mommy and I were working on putting up our Christmas tree and the ornaments.  Daddy, however, did NOT help at all.  He was doing whatever he was doing (editor's note: He was putting together an unnecessarily complicated new gas grille).  I look over at Daddy being lazy and not helping with the ornaments.  I was thinking, That Bum.  Mommy and I are working our patooties off!  If he wants any hot chocolate like Mommy promised, he needs to put some ornaments on!

So I reminded him.  And reminded him:  "Daddy, you don't get any hot chocolate if you don't help with the ornaments!"  Finally, Daddy got off his lazy, cheeky butt and put on a whopping two ornaments.  I don't think he really should've gotten ANY hot chocolate, but Mommy is a nice lady and I guess if it's okay with Mommy, it's okay with me.

So yeah, it's going to be pretty exciting with the twins coming and me being my awesome self. I am a-may-zing-ly excited!

Sassy Molassy and Adventures in MommySitting

Howdy Folks,

Wow.  Talk about some craziness in my life lately.  A couple of weeks ago Mommy had to go see a doctor at a hospital about her tummy, which was hurting her pretty bad.  The doctor had to fix her tummy right away, so daddy had to leave teaching the Big Kids early and pick me up from DayCare to go help out Mommy.  Daddy told me that we needed to MommySit for the afternoon.

So we get to the hospital just about .005 seconds before they were going to take Mommy to the room where the doctor was going to work on her tummy.  Mommy was really happy to see both of us.  She was so happy that she was crying.  We told Mommy that she needed to be brave when she went to see the doctor, just like she tells me when I see the doctor.  I also tell Mommy, "You need to be more careful, Mommy."  I only have one Mommy!

So they took her to another room, and Daddy and I had to wait a REALLY SUPER LONG time before we could take Mommy home.  Daddy and I had to kill almost four hours at the hospital.  Yeesh.  It's not like Mommies are THAT complex, right?  Daddy thinks that women are pretty complicated in general, and he says that one day I'll understand.

Evidence of Food Being Eaten at the Hospital

Daddy and I went to the gift shop to help fulfill three needs: 1) Hunger.  2) Entertainment For William.  3) Something nice for Mommy (#3 should've been #1, but we are boys, you know?).  So we got a bunch of snacks, drinks, some new cool cars, and I picked out some roses for Mommy!  When we got back to the waiting room, the nurses were really super nice and wanted to talk to me, even though I was a little shy, which is weird because I am usually the opposite.  When they asked for my name and I didn't respond, Daddy told them that it was Sassy Molassy.  No it's not, Daddy!  Okay, okay, so I may or may not have been developing a Sassy Streak lately, like when Mommy asked me to pick up something, and I told her that she is the one who should be picking it up.  Aren't I a stinker?

Anyway, those nice nurses took some rubber gloves and blew them up like a balloon for me.  Wasn't that nice of them?  The funny thing was that those balloons were my favorite toys of the afternoon.  Daddy and I had some fun waiting around and goofing off, but I kept wondering what was taking so long with Mommy and the doctor.  Finally, after what seemed like forever, we got to see Mommy in the Recovering Room, and she was doing just fine!  But she didn't feel like eating much and she was super sleepy.  So Daddy and I ended up going and bringing the car around to the front of the hospital so she didn't have to walk too far to the car.

Mommy spent the rest of the weekend resting, and she's still hurting a little bit, but Mommy is all better now!  Woo hoo!  I only have one Mommy and I'm thankful she's doing well!

Bella, the Naughty Dog

On the day after Mommy's emergency surgery, Bella did something very, very naughty.  She ate part of Mommy's ice pack!  Mommy was using it to make her tummy feel better, and that naughty dog got into it while Mommy was in the bathroom.  Of course the ice pack has polymer gel, which is poisonous.  I wasn't there at the time, but Daddy had to take Bella to the vet.  Daddy was kind of stressed out at the time. The vet took care of Bella and she's all better now.  Daddy didn't know how he survived everything without a vein bursting in his neck.  He thinks it's either his nerves of steel or his incredibly good looks.  It must be the former.  Ha ha.

Ryan and Brandie's Wedding

The past weekend I had a ton of fun at Ryan and Brandie's weekend!  Just like for Toph and Alyssa, I was the ring bearer.  I got to the walk up with Daddy and I got to wear a Cubs jersey and baseball mitt!  It was really cool!  Daddy said that he will now need to perform some kind of ritual to get the Stench of 100 Years of Losing off of me so that the Reds will win the World Series again in his lifetime (sorry, Cubs fans).  As per usual at weddings, I was the center of attention, got to dance a lot, ate lots of food (friend chicken for dinner!  Awesome), and just had a good time.

The Reds

Speaking of the Reds, we went to see them play at Great American Ballpark!  I had a lot of fun, but it was a little too hot.  What I enjoyed the most was running the bases at the playground (not the real bases).

Winning William

Did you know that Ortons (Mommy's maiden name) don't like losing?  Well, especially Uncle Tophy and yours truly.  Mommy was teaching me how to play Go Fish.  We were playing it on the floor, and she invites Daddy to join us.  Daddy's hardly even paying attention at all, and yet somehow he won the game!  What the heck, man!  Mommy said that he won for some reason (I think he just put the cards in his pocket or got Naughty Bella to eat them or SOMETHING), and I just say, "No, I won."  Mommy tried to explain how I lost, but I just don't understand the concept of William "Losing."  Later on at night, while Mommy was rocking me to sleep, I was still upset.  I said to Mommy, "Daddy won the Go Fish game.  That made me very very sad that Daddy won.  I want to get in my car and drive away."

Alas, as the clock ticks down to my third birthday, which is coming up in two weeks, I must learn this concept of "Not Winning," or "Losing."  This is a concept that I'd rather not do much thorough research on.

Birthday!

I am really excited for my birthday coming up!  It's going to MY Party and I will be Winning at Everything!

I hope all is well with everyone!

We Will Never Ever Have a Better Vacation

Hey Mister Gurlies!

(This is my saying now. My parents have no idea where I learned it, or I'm just not telling.  ).

I would like to take this time to discuss the Jacobs Journey Across the World!  Or, well, to Union Pier, Michigan.  But it took FIVE HOURS by CAR, so it might as well have been on the other side of the planet for all I know.  Time in the car spent with my parents wasn't toooo bad.  I only had my portable DVD player, a thousand DVDs to choose from (really, I just shuffle between the Shreks, Ice Age, Lion King, and occasionally Baby Einstein, but I'm pretty much over Baby Einstein now.  I mean, Baby Einstein?  What's that?  I'm waaaaay too cool for that), my Computer (a.k.a. the LeapFrog, a.k.a. the Kids iPad), and good ol' fashion I-Spy with Mommy.

So anyway, we had tons of fun on vacation this year!  We rented a house that was only a few miles away from Lake Michigan and a beach!  Still, we had lots of cool things called "amenities" at our place.  I like "amenities."  We had our own pool, a volleyball court, a sweet tree house with a slide, and a fire pit!  One of my favorite things to do was to swim with Papi and Skylee.  Papi showed me how to hold my breath and go under water.  Did I ever tell you that I'm Super Brave?   I would jump in the pool with no floaties on!  Papi of course would be right there to catch me, but I wanted to show Papi how brave I was and told him to keep going back back back!

In addition to the pool, I loved hanging out by the fire pit at night with everyone, listening to music, telling stories, laughing, and making Smores!  Smores are just about the most awesomest thing ever.  Chocolate.  Graham cracker.  Gooinesss of marsh-mellow.  Great stuff!  The tree house and slide was also really cool.  I found a bird nest up in the corner that I showed everybody.  There was also a bunch of woods in the backyard and it had trails.  It was a really nifty place.

Aside from the house, we actually went out and did may cool things.  We went to the beach a few times where I got to play in the sand, run around in the waves, and just be goofy.  And then we went on a Boat Cruise!  We saw lots of neat lighthouses, other boats, and lots and lots of Lake Michigan.  You could even see Chicago in the Way, Way, Way Far Distance.  We also went to a place called a Winery where all the Big People got to drink wine, and there was this great band that played some cool and fun songs.

Have I told you that I like music?  Well, I am really getting into music more and more.  One time when we were all in Mommy's car and Daddy started playing Taylor Swift's "We are Never Ever Ever Something or Other."  There were a bunch of other girls in the car, like Skylee and Beka and Alyssa.  They were singing the song.  And then Daddy heard something strange.  It was my voice.  Daddy's head turned around really slowly, Exorcist-like.  He saw me.  I was singing the song, too.  Daddy had never even heard the song himself before vacation.  But I was singing the words too.

I'm Driving the Boat!

Much to Daddy's dismay, I really like Taylor Swift.  Daddy told me that it's okay that I like all of this Pop Music.  I am only 2.75 years old.  But eventually when I get older he will get me to appreciate bands like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and the National (Mommy hates the National.  In fact, Daddy knows of exactly zero other people who like the National.  He's real cool, let me tell ya.  He's just like Jake Gyllenhal listening to the Indie Record that's much cooler than Taylor Swift's [that's a reference to her song!]).   Whatever man!  Give me my Pop Music!

Sitting on Daddy's shoulders is the best way to travel at the Zoo!
Anyway, after vacation, it was a little tough to transition back to the Normal World.  The hardest transition for me is going back to DayCare.  Sometimes I say that DayCare is naughty.  Really, I am the one who may or may not be naughty AT TIMES.  I mean, DayCare totally kills my vibe sometimes.  I spend all day with all of these cool adults, doing cool things, and then DayCare is like this: People telling me to Share, to be Nice to my Friends, Pick up my Toys, Don't Hit Other People even if I Have a Somewhat Legitimate Reason to Smack Someone Around.  You know, rules and stuff.  People telling ME what to do.  Have you guys not gotten the memo?  William makes the rules!  I am the boss!  (Okay, that's only when Mommy and Daddy let me, but that's very debatable, but somehow I always lose.)

But even though I can't spend my entire life on Vacation, I still have fun in little old Cincinnati.  Daddy and Mommy have taken turns in taking me to the Zoo the past three weekends.  The Zoo is pretty flippin' fun!  I got to see a Flamingo Parade one weekend.  Like, as in, right in the middle of the Zoo!  They were Baby Flamingos, and the Zoo Keepers were getting them to exercise.  Man!  And I thought the Zoo Animals had the life of luxury!  My favorite things to do at the Zoo are to ride the Train and then ride the Carousel.  I've been on a great Big Shark, a White Tiger, and a Zebra!  But seeing the other animals is cool, too, but not as fun.

The Other Cool Thing That Wasn't on Vacation was go to the Cincinnati Children's Museum with my Cousin Ronny, Grandma Nancy, Aunt Jo, Uncle Mike, and Daddy.  We got to see a pretty sweet new Dinosaur Exhibit.  I was pretty nuts because I've been there before and I wanted to show Ronny everything that was there.  He wanted to take his time and take pictures.  Psh, whatever.  After that, I spent the night at Aunt Jo's place and we went to a park the next day in Oxford, OH.  I had so much fun climbing on everything.  I constantly remind everyone that I am All Boy.

Last but not least, the other really Cool and Brave thing that I did was have Surgery!  I know! Crazy, right? It was for my ears.  Apparently there is too much fluid in them, so I needed to put some Tubes in them.  I'm all better now!  I was really Brave throughout the whole surgery, but when it was over, I definitely asked if I could go home afterward. I was pretty tired.  Here's the evidence:

Well, as usual, I never think I have anything to say and then I say a whole bunch.  Hope all is well with everyone!

Sir William, the Lord of Toph and Alyssa's Rings

Hello Everybody!

On Memorial Day Weekend, I was the Lord of Uncle Tophy and Aunt Alyssa's Rings!  Or, in less fancier terms, I was the Bearer of the Rings, or even less fancy, I carried a pillow up the aisle while people ooed and awed at me.  I was told to walk really nicely and gently with the pillow.  Well, since I follow the tenets of Emerson and Thoreau, I am a True Individual, and I did my own thing.

So I stroll (a better term may be whatever is a notch under "charge"... definitely not "walk nicely," as certain well-meaning parents told me) down the aisle, holding the hand of my 6-year-old cousin Skylee.  Instead of holding the pillow like I should hold a platter of something precious, I felt that the pillow needed to feel the full and true experience of a Will-I-Am-In-Charge Stroll.  The Pillow did survive... barely.  Mommy had to reattach the bow-ribbon on top of the pillow several times before I even started down the aisle.  Hey, I was getting a little tired.  It had been a very busy weekend up to that point already.  I even asked Daddy if I could go home before the wedding even started.

But I was good for Daddy during the wedding.  I got to play in the back of the church with my toys and Uncle Ben.  Mommy said that she didn't hear a peep from the back... until at one point when everything was quiet and then, "ROAR!"  Hey, that's what dinosaurs are supposed to do, ya know?

So Uncle Tophy and Aunt Alyssa got married!  Yeah!  I always told Uncle Tophy that he needs to make an honest woman out of Aunt Alyssa.

After they got married, I had to go take a nap because I was completely ker-tuckered.  Whatever that means.  I mean, Daddy and I went to Mr. Phil's (Alyssa's Daddy) house for the Man Breakfast in the morning before the wedding.  Mr. Phil is such an amazing and great man.  At the breakfast, there's more Sausage than the eye could see.  There may have been other items, but that don't matter.  THERE WAS SAUSAGE.  Dad started me out with two or three sausage links and two non-sausage items.  Well, by the end of the Man Breakfast, I ATE EIGHT SAUSAGE LINKS.  I believe this is a Rite of Passage in some Native American Tribes.

I also discovered these things called Mints.  Once again, Mr. Phil is the Man.  After the Eight Sausage Links, I think I had about two and a half packs of Mentos, the Freshmaker.  I love those things.

After my Sausage-Mint-Wedding-Induced coma, I woke up to find that the Real Party was about to start!  We had a very nice reception with lots of food (non-sausage variety... rats!) and cake (pretty much on par with the Sausage); and people got up to say lots of nice things about Tophy and Alyssa, including Mr. Phil, who probably gave me another Mint afterward (no joke).

But then came the Dancing.  Oh man, if there's a Heaven, the walls would be made out of Sausage and Mints, and there would be a DJ spinning some sweet grooves.  I was movin' and groovin' all over the place, pointing my little fingers up in the air in time with the music.  I think I danced more than anyone else out there, especially Daddy.  I literally danced up a storm.  Okay, dad, not literally, but you get my point.  I even got to slow dance with Mommy!

So a Good Time was had by all, which should be the ultimate measure of any social function.  Tophy and Alyssa got married, I ate some sausage, and some other things happened.  All was good.

In addition to all of the wedding stuff, the past month I got to celebrate both Aunt Jo and Grandma Nancy's birthdays!  I think AJ turned 33, and Grandma 36.  Or so they say... I think they are much younger!

Anyway, Daddy is making good use of his iPhone.  He writes down notes of little funny things that happens.  So here are some randomness over the past month or so:

-  Daddy breaks a nice figurine statue, ON ACCIDENT AND IT WAS SUPER FRAGILE.  I say, "You broke the lady, daddy?  You go to time out!"

- In a public restroom with a hand dryer. Me: "That's for big people, not for me."

- I am potty trained!  Like, 99% of the time.  I am very good at telling people when I have to go... MOST of the time.  But when I'm having a good time... it can be tough.

- One night Daddy was reading Dr. Seuss' Fox in Sox, and I noticed something fishy... Daddy was skipping pages!  I totally call him out on it.  Mommy says to Daddy afterward, Will is on to us.  The jig is up!  Ha ha!

- Huh?  We were all driving to Peoria, and I kept asking Mommy, Huh?  Mommy told me that that was annoying.  Well, being the stinker that I am, I said it over.  And Over.  And Over. And OVER again.  I had a Big Grin on my Face.  Daddy was just chuckling up front.  Mommy was not too happy about that.

- Mommy asked me if I knew that verbal contracts are enforceable in the state of Ohio.  I said, Yeah.

Well, that's all that I got right now.  In a week and a half, I am going on vacation to Michigan!  I am looking forward to some good de-stressing.  Life can be hectic, ya know?

Will Likes to Move It

Hey everyone!

Can you believe that it's been 3 months since my last journal entry?  Man oh man.  Lots of things have been going on.  Let's review, shall we?

February

This month was the month of Mommy's birthday!  Happy birthday again, Mommy!   She's an old lady at the ripe old age of 32.  We celebrated her bday two separate times because she is such a special lady!  First, we went to Aunt Jo and Uncle Mike's house for some cupcakes and ice cream and some chocolate and possibly some other non-important types of food that need not to be mentioned.  I gave Mommy a really nice kiss as my birthday present.  She liked it lots!

The next weekend we celebrated Mommy's birthday AGAIN.  We went to a Water Park called Pirate Bay with Mimi and Papi at a hotel in Indiana.  It was lots of fun!  However, despite the fun that was had, I was slightly scared of this Pirates Bay.  Not really because of all the Pirates, or of the Bay.  No, it was the Ginormous Bucket that dumped water every 10 minutes or so.  It was this great deluge of water coming the sky.  I wasn't too thrilled with it, a little wary.  I did get to go down a few slides and I had some good times splashing with Papi and Daddy in the Kiddie Pool Section.  I also enjoyed swimming and splashing in the Normal, Non-Water Park Pool.

March

This month was the month of Uncle Mike!  Uncle Mike decided that he wanted to go see the Easter Bunny at Parky's Farm.  I said, Sure why not, Uncle Mike!  That would be a swell time!  And you know what?  It WAS a swell time, for realz.  I got to ride a Black Pony (okay, it was really dark brown, but I REALLY wanted to ride the "black" pony) named Fancy.  He was really, legitimately, no foolin' fast.  We did it not once, but twice!  I also got to ride on a hay ride, jumped around in the bounce house, ran around and got some Easter eggs, and had my face painted!  I also got to see two really neat and interesting things, one that was scary and not so scary.  One was a real live snake, and the other was the Easter Bunny. Which one do you think was really scary?  The FREAKIN' EASTER BUNNY!!!  Did you see that picture of that thing?  I've got two words for you:  Not. Right.

April

April has been a pretty decent month so far, if you ask me.  The sunshine has been sunshining some more, thank goodness.  I've been having lots of fun with my neighbors since the weather has turned into not so yucky.  I have some nice friends who have let me over to play after we eat dinner.  They have this really awesome swing set that is HUGE.  It has three swings, a Tire Twirly Thingy, a Big Slide, a Tree House with a Pirates Wheel, a Climbing Wall, a Rope Ladder, and a Non-Rope Ladder.  Did I say it's huge?  I'm not kidding.  Daddy talks to the other Daddies while he pushes me in the swing.  He found out that the Huge Swing cost around $4,500!  Oh my Gosh!  That is a ton of Green, you know?

Also in this month of April, we went to visit Aunt Beka and Uncle Wes in this Magical Land of Chicago.  We had great fun!  We went to a park, flew a kite, had dinner at a Train Diner (!) -- that's where they serve you your dinner on a toy train! -- played at Monkey Bizness (it had a bounce house and lots of cool climbing things), and we painted Easter Eggs!  I even got to see Aunt Beka and Uncle Wes's cat Char-Char!  He was so cute.  He was also a little afraid of me, and I spent most of my time looking for Char-Char because he was hiding about 99.9% of the time that I was awake.  Oh well.  I had a darn good time.

Miscellaneous

Daddy and I spent our last weekend at the Newport Aquarium a couple of weeks ago.  I'm sure we will visit it again, but Grandma Nancy bought us a Zoo Pass! I am so excited!  We haven't gone yet this year, but I am totally stoked!  I love me some animals!  But I was sad to say good-bye to the Aquarium for now, so I gave the Penguin a Big Hug.

A couple of other things of note: I am still getting into music!  I really like all my Dance Songs.  You know, "Party Rock," "Hello," "The Drumming Song" ("Wavin Flag"), and my Favorite Song "I Like to Move It, Move It."  That song is so loud and fun!  It is EXACTLY my style.  I just hop around and do some major groovin' when it comes on. Daddy burned me not one, but TWO CD's of my music, which I request ALL the time whenever I'm in the car.  Hey man, what can I say?  I love rocking out.

I am also a pretty active dude, you know?  I love just running around, jumping over things, throwing things, saying goofy things, singing whatever song I can, tickling Mommy when I can, giving Kisses and Hugs, and just being overall a Goofy Little Boy.  Oh, and I get to be in Tophy and Alyssa's wedding coming up in a little over a month!  Can't wait!

Hope all is well!
